Irises & Orchids
Watercolor studies of irises and orchids — the longest-running thread in my practice. Each flower is painted from life, on a black ground that lets the colour carry the whole picture.
Portraits
Mixed-media paintings of women — built from layers of acrylic, watercolor, torn paper, printed text and collage. Each one started from someone I noticed and couldn't stop noticing.
Botanical
Florals and growing things — mostly in pure watercolor, sometimes with mixed-media additions. The loosest part of the practice; the part where colour is allowed to lead.
Wildlife
Birds, insects and creatures from the sea — drawn in coloured pencil with watercolor for the underwater pieces. Field-guide attention without the field-guide flatness.
Places
Coloured-pencil drawings from somewhere I've been — a desert hillside, an African village at sunset, two Venetian views from oblique angles.
Small Worlds
Handheld pieces — 15–20 cm — in watercolor and found objects. Each one is built up in a single sitting and lives close to where it began on the studio table.
Layered
Mid-size works where stencil, paper, found objects and the occasional photograph sit in dialogue with the watercolor ground. These take longer — weeks rather than hours.
Color & Paper
Abstract works in mixed media and paper collage — where the painting and the cutting take turns leading. Some are built up on canvas with watercolor and paint; some are torn, cut and rearranged from earlier studies.
Pressed
Real flowers and leaves — dried, painted and arranged on a coloured ground. Where the watercolor florals are about light, these are about touch and the slow way a plant turns into a relic.
Figures
Pencil studies of dancers and the body in motion. Drawn fast in a single sitting because the gesture wouldn't survive a slower process.
Jewelry
Handmade necklaces, earrings and pendant sets — built from wood, leather, stone, hand-wrapped fibre and reclaimed metalwork. The painter's eye applied to small objects you can wear.
